ICE SKATING RINKS

RINK AT WRIGLEY
The only thing colder than the Cubs come September? Ice-skating in the frozen Friendly Confines mid-February.
(Through February 27: Wrigley Field, Addison and Clark. rinkatwrigley.com.)

RINK AT JOHN HANCOCK (article from Chicago Modern Luxury.)
John Hancock Observatory, 875 N. Michigan Ave.,
1.888.875.VIEW, hancockobservatory.com

The ice rink at Millennium Park has its charm, but there's one thing it doesn't have: elevation. On January 1, 2011 the world's highest ice rink—1,000 feet in the air—opened on the top of the John Hancock Observatory. To ensure the ice (made from a synthetic substance called XTRAICE, eliminating the need for Zamboni "time outs") was fit for the anticipated crowds, Tommy Hawk—mascot for the Chicago Blackhawks—gave the rink a test spin, along with the ultimate ice connoisseurs: penguins from Shedd Aquarium.  The indoor location offers you the opportunity to skate to your heart’s content, weather be damned. And while you may eventually tire from all of the exercise, the incomparable views of the Mag Mile, Lake Shore Drive, and the city's lakefront skyline will keep you glued to your skates.

Feel free to bring your own blades, or rent a pair for $1. We suggest making reservations online ahead of time—or if you’re feeling spontaneous, on-site tickets may be available.

Daily from 9am-11pm, through March 31. One 25-minute skating session is $5 per person, with John Hancock Observatory admission ($21 for adults, $16 for children).

We might as well make the best of the 2011 blizzard!  Go sledding, play with the kiddies, make snowmen, just have FUN!  After all the play in the cold, get warm!

I am not a fan of chocolate.  I have to have a taste for it and when I do I crave dark chocolate or white chocolate.  If you want to warm up during this chilly weather, give Mindy's hot chocolate a try.  THE BEST!  I enjoy the Medium and Mexican hot chocolate.  The food and desserts are also amazing!  The Shrimp and Grits are great. Give this place a try.
